EUNICE, N.M. (KRQE) - New Mexico state police say a 20-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash north of Eunice.
It happened just before 7 o’clock Sunday morning when police say the driver, Felix Covarrubias-Mercado, drifted off state road 248, then struck a fence made of tree posts.
Mercado died at the scene.
State police say he was not wearing a seat belt and that driver inattention was a factor in the crash.
No word yet if alcohol was involved.
