ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A tornado warning in effect for parts of Lincoln and Chaves counties since shortly before 6 p.m. has been allowed to expire.

Doppler radar readings indicate the thunderstorm that prompted the warning for an area about 42 miles northeast of Ruidoso no longer is capable of producing a tornado. Additionally a trained weather spotter said a funnel cloud has withdrawn back into the storm and that there are no signs of rotation.

However the storm still may be producing heavy rains, small hail and gusty winds.
