Two die in rollover crash in Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) - State police are investigating a car crash in Hobbs that ended in the deaths of two people.

The crash happened Saturday morning on World Drive.

Investigators said Javier Grijalva, 44, was headed North at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his Dodge pickup truck.

The truck entered a broad side skid and then rolled multiple times.

Grijalva and his passenger Monica Najera, 30, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Excessive speed and failure to use seatbelts have been identified as contributing factors.

State police said alcohol may have played a role as well.
