CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) - A Clovis couple has been reunited with the two lost dogs they described as their last connection to their 12-year-old son.
Jacob Thomson was killed in a car crash last December.
The Thomson family says their two schnauzers -- Paige and Bella -- were their son's two best friends.
The pups ran away recently, and Jacob's parents said they felt a part of Jacob went with them.
They say the dogs helped him endure the pain of cystic fibrosis.
"They always reminded us of Jacob, and we always knew it was like he was with us," Mechelle Thomson, Jacob's mother, said. "We felt like he was still there, it's still a part of him."
But now, Paige and Bella are back home with the family.
They say someone living nearby found the dogs, saw the story on TV Friday and contacted them.
