Victims identified in fatal fire

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Investigators on Wednesday released the names of two people killed in a mobile-home fire in Farmington on Tuesday.

Paul Smith, 29, and April Lobato, 33, were killed in the fire.

A 9-year-old girl survived the fire but is in critical condition at an Albuquerque hospital. Her name has not been released.

Farmington Fire Department Battalion Chief Nick Mrzlak said investigators believe the blaze likely was due to an overloaded circuit and a light-duty extension cord that handled multiple plugs in a bedroom.

He said no smoke detectors have been found in the debris.
