SHIPROCK, N.M. (AP) - The Shiprock Mesa Farm area is finally getting a sewer line.
The Farmington Daily Times reports that $2.4 million in grant funding will allow for the installation of the sewer line, which will replace more than 70 septic tanks in the Mesa Farm area.
Residents are slated Sunday to learn about the sewer line during a meeting at the Shiprock Chapter House.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the Shiprock Chapter of the Navajo Nation slightly less than $608,000 in the form of an Indian Community Development Block Grant.
Shiprock Chapter Vice President Donald Benally said the remaining funds are from the Public Health Department.
