FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) - A helicopter helped rescue a missing canoeist in northern New Mexico on Monday.
Jackie Dunning had been missing since Saturday, after he was thrown from a canoe when it hit rough water on the San Juan River.
Dunning was spotted on a beach waving an orange shirt at a state police helicopter around 12:30 p.m. Monday.
The man's friend, who was in another canoe, reported the accident.
Dunning has been taken to San Juan Regional Hospital.
