FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A stripper's constitutional rights were violated during a police search according to a verdict handed down by a jury in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque.
The lawsuit alleged that former state police officer Glenn Slaughter violated Jill Dusenberry's constitutional rights when executing a search warrant at the Phoenix Nightclub in Flora Vista in 2006.
Dusenberry and others alleged they were forced to stand, kneel or lie down in scant garments while searched by police.
According to court documents, the lawsuit alleged the dancer's Fourth Amendment rights to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures and their Fourteenth Amendment rights to substantive and procedural due process were violated.
Defense attorney Arlon Stoker said if strippers don't have rights, then none of us do.
