AZTEC, N.M. (KRQE) - Two motorcycles were involved in a crash with an SUV Sunday morning in northwest New Mexico and the results were deadly for two people.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 550 north of Aztec.
According to the San Juan County sheriff's office, three motorcycles were traveling southbound when an SUV pulled out of a County Road in front of them.
Two of the motorcycles hit the vehicle.
A man on one of the motorcycles, 43-year-old Michael Shockley of Louisiana, was killed.
David Hutchison, 78, of Aztec was also killed. He was the driver of the SUV.
Another motorcycle rider, as well as a passenger in the SUV, suffered minor injuries.
Highway 550 was down to one lane for a while, but has since fully reopened.
