SANTA FE (KRQE) - The city of Santa Fe is planning a meeting with the organizers of the annual burning of Zozobra after an outcry from the public.

Some local residents feel the event isn't family friendly anymore and is losing the tradition that makes the event so great.

More than 600 people have signed a petition to lower ticket prices and make changes, like allowing strollers.

This year it cost $20 to get into Fort Marcy Park on Sept. 6, the day of the event, to watch the giant puppet of Old Man Gloom go up in flames along with people's troubles and worries.

Some locals say that's way too expensive for families.

Both the mayor and city councilors say they've heard the complaints and want to work together to make a better event next year.

The event is a fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club.
