ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - If you're traveling out of the Albuquerque Sunport over the Christmas holiday, the Sunport's long-term parking will be closed starting the day after Christmas.
Construction on the parking lot will last about five months.
The reconstruction will include repaving the entire lot and adding solar panels that will also serve as shade canopies.
”That lot has not seen any type of re-surfacing or anything other than some crack-sealing for over 20 years,” Sunport spokesperson, Daniel Jiron, said.
Officials say alternate parking, at the same daily rate, will be available in the long-term credit/debit card lot located off Girard.
The project is expected to cost about $5 million, with more than $3 million coming from an FAA grant for the solar portion of the project.
