Suspect in fatal bike crash in court

2nd trial underway for Miranda Pacheco

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) -

Miranda Pacheco is back in court for the fatal 2010 crash that killed an Albuquerque cyclist.

In 2010, Pacheco was speeding down Paseo Del Norte when she veered out of her lane and crashed into 56-year-old David Anderson who was riding on a nearby bike path.

Anderson died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

A mistrial was declared during Pacheco's first trial last year due to a hung jury.

During opening statements Tuesday the District Attorney said that they will be calling on several witnesses who were driving near Pacheco the day of the crash.

Witnesses are expected to say Pacheco was speeding before the crash.

Defense attorneys had previously argued that Pacheco did nothing criminally wrong and that the crash was just an accident.
