SANTA FE (KRQE) - More than 600 guns are off the streets in Santa Fe after the city held its third gun buyback on Saturday.

The outcome was similar to the previous events as people turned in 232 guns while the city handed out $29,000 in gift cards to those who surrendered working guns.

The first two gun buybacks netted 418 firearms bringing the total guns surrendered to 650.

What was different this time was the city not giving IOUs to people turning in guns after the gift cards ran out.

Santa Fe police accidentally released those names, which were supposed to remain anonymous.
