RIO COMMUNITIES, N.M. (KRQE) - Towering flames scorched most of an RV storage complex Friday night in Valencia County.
Firefighters were called to the Yucca RV Storage facility near Highway 47 and Highway 304 around 10:20 p.m. Friday.
The fire initially involved a RV parked in one of the units, according to the county fire chief.
He said firefighters witnessed at least one explosion.
A witness driving by the facility reported flames around 30 to 40 feet high to authorities.
"First it was small, and then in a matter of seconds it got huge," Daniel Jaramillio said.
Jaramillio said he heard a dog bark and thought maybe someone was living there. He then notified authorities who evacuated a family and dog living on site.
The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
