Rio Rancho to allow pets to be sold in store

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - There will be new rules for Rio Rancho pet owners and pet stores.

Stores will no longer be banned from selling dogs and cats in the store.

A ban was passed last year, but the new council prevented the ban from going into effect.

Critics of the practice say selling pets supports puppy mills.

In addition dogs will not be required to be spayed or neutered, but cats will be.
