RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE/CNN) - These terrific small cities boast plenty of jobs, great schools, safe streets, low crime, lots to do, and more. Rio Rancho was the only New Mexican city that ranked in the top 100 small towns in America.
CNN's researchers said this of Rio Rancho:
This safe, family-friendly suburb of Albuquerque is home to events like the annual Pork & Brew, a large BBQ festival and competition.
Rio Rancho has a new downtown area that is a developing hub for recreation and business. It currently houses City Hall and the Santa Ana Star Center, a sport and concert arena.
Foreclosures have been a problem in New Mexico and Rio Rancho is not an exception. The plus side: House hunters can snap up bargains.
The number one small town to live in was Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Eden Prairie has a population of 64,000. Unemployment in Eden Prairie is listed at 5.1 percent.
