Pedestrian killed walking in crosswalk

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Around 9:30 a.m., Albuquerque police responded to a pedestrian crash at Central Avenue and Alvarado Drive Southeast.

According to witnesses, a woman was walking across Alvarado Road at the crosswalk when the driver, later identified as Charlene Krummel, disregarded the traffic signal and attempted to make a left turn onto Central Avenue from Alvarado Road and struck the pedestrian.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Office of the Medical Investigator will identify the victim. It is unknown at this time whether the District Attorney will file charges against Krummel.
