ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A rollover crash temporarily closed Interstate 25 between Sunport and Rio Bravo Boulevards in Albuquerque early Wednesday morning.
According to Albuquerque police, a dark sedan was traveling northbound on I-25 around 3:15 a.m. when it crashed into a guardrail in the median and rolled over.
The unidentified male driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital with what police describe as serious injuries.
Police have not confirmed, but suspect alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. A pack of beer was also found near the wreckage of the vehicle.
Investigators shut down the southbound lanes of the interstate while police and rescue worked on the car. They were later re-opened. The far left lane of northbound I-25 was also closed until 6:10 a.m. while investigators tried to reconstruct the crash.
There is no word from police as to what charges the driver may be facing.
