ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The annual Old Town Holiday Stroll will start on Friday afternoon from 4 - 9:30 p.m. Organizers say about 70 businesses in the Old Town area are participating this year for the annual tradition. Everything from art dealers, to souvenir shops, to music and food are on the agenda to be checked out for the event.
Some business owners tell News 13 that they see an 80 to 100 percent spike in sales on this night.
A booth will be set up somewhere near the heart of the plaza where patrons can buy a button which will make them eligible for discounts at some of the nearby shops. Proceeds from the sales of the button will go directly to the American Heart Association.
Owners say it's also a chance for locals to check out stores they might not see on their own.
"The holiday stroll is a chance for them to see that it's a place for them, not just for visitors and we really appreciate that" says Betty Wilson, Manager from Weems Art Gallery.
Organizers say thousands are expected to turn out on Friday night, so they add it'd be wise to come out early and get good parking. The streets around Old Town will be closed off starting at 2 p.m.
