ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque's mayor says the cost of admission to the city's Biological Park will be going up to raise money for repairs and maintenance.
Mayor Richard Berry says adult tickets to the park containing the city's zoo, aquarium and botanical gardens will go from $7 to $10 next month.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that raising the ticket costs will generate $1.3 million in extra revenue a year. The park currently has an $18 million backlog in repairs and maintenance.
The price hike is the first in 10 years for the BioPark. Children and seniors will see smaller price increases and prices for students on field trips would not go up.
