SANTA FE (KRQE) - New details have been released about the elderly man shot by a Santa Fe polic e officer during an alarm call earlier this week.

Robert Dominguez, 77, is a former police officer and is now fighting for his life.

Officer Charles Laramie shot him early Monday after an alarm went off in a neighborhood.

Neighbors say Dominguez may have been checking on the alarm and state police say he may have had a gun too.

The officer who shot him is on standard leave right now.

Dominguez's family tells the Santa Fe New Mexican that he's on a breathing machine and has had his Catholic last rights.
