Girl killed in skiing accident

SANTA FE (KRQE) - A 10-year-old girl has died after hitting a tree while skiing with her family at the Santa Fe Ski Basin.
Witnesses told Santa Fe County deputies that the girl was on an intermediate trail as she gained speed and started heading towards trees.
The girl fell down and slid into a tree, where she suffered a head injury. Officials could not resuscitate her.
She was not wearing a helmet.
The girl, who has not been identified, had been skiing with her mother, father and brother. The family is from Bushland, Texas.
