ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Despite threatening skies, thousands are flocking to Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta Park for Saturday night's fireworks display.

Rain or shine, officials said Freedom Fourth will happen.

Well before the fireworks are lit, the celebration was underway with live bands, face painting, inflatable jumpers and a rock climbing wall.

The fireworks show is set to start at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $2.

Over 50,000 people are expected to attend the event, meaning motorists can expect heavy traffic in and around Balloon Fiesta Park.

The heaviest concentrations of traffic will be until 11:00 p.m. Saturday from Tramway to Second St. between Alameda and Paseo Del Norte.
