BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) - While jumping out of a plane certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, one Albuquerque grandmother is proving that it may be for the young at heart.

Dolores Moser, 87, skydived for the first time Saturday at Belen’s Skydive New Mexico.

Aside from her new skydiving venture, Moser is a busy woman. Her son Pat said she volunteers 40 hours a week at the VA hospital and walks 10 miles a day.

“She has grandkids who are just in awe of her, she just keeps going,” Pat Moser said.

The active grandmother has been chasing adventure throughout her entire life.

“She's run the rapids, she's ridden in a hot air balloon, but jumping out of an airplane is completely different,” said her son.

Moser said she wasn’t nervous to jump out of the plane because of her experienced skydiving instructor.

“I have this nice man who’s going to keep me safe,” Dolores Moser said. “I hope I don’t forget my instructions!”

During her skydiving adventure, Dolores looked excited and said she enjoyed herself a lot.

She and the instructor landed safely in a field near the Skydive New Mexico site, using a pink parachute.

“It was great, it was so great, I forgot [to pull] my ripcord,” Dolores said.

Her family said they appreciate her zest for life and willingness to try new things.

“She's not ready for the grave, she wants to live and this is her way of showing everyone that she's still alive,” Pat Moser said.

Dolores turns 88 at the end of August.

Her son told News 13 that she spent more than 40 years of her life working at Lovelace Hospital as an emergency room nurse.
