ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Victims of last month’s massive apartment fire in Albuquerque were handed a check by the firefighters who helped battle the blaze.
“As committed as we are to the community we felt compelled to get involved and help those people get back on their feet given the magnitude of their losses,” Firefighters Union President Diego Arencon said.
The local firefighters union started raising money for the dozens of residents displaced after the massive fire at the Royal Crown Apartments early last month on Gibson Street in Southeast Albuquerque.
The complex was completely destroyed.
Firefighters have been able to raise just under $6,000 ever since the fundraising began.
