ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Eleven people are without a home after an early morning apartment fire in southeast Albuquerque.

The fire call came in just before 3 a.m. from the apartments near Pennsylvania Street and Zuni Road SE.

When firefighters arrived they found smoke and flames coming from an abandoned unit but quickly controlled the flames.

Two of the units were damaged forcing 11 people out of their home.  They are being assisted by the local American Red Cross chapter.

Four families in nearby units were evacuated but were allowed back in.

The cause is under investigation.
