Dona Ana County commissioners have ordered extra security at their next meeting because of threats.
The county is being flooded with calls and e-mails, some from as far away as New York, complaining about the treatment of former inmate Stephen Slevin.
He was arrested for drunk driving in 2005, put in solitary confinement and pretty much ignored for two years. At one point he was forced to pull out his own tooth.
The county agreed to settle with Slevin for $15.5 million.
