Ex-APD officer dies of cancer

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A long time detective with the Albuquerque Police Department has died after losing her battle to cancer.

Geri Sanders, 60, died Sunday.

She retired from the department last month because of her illness.

Sanders spent 20 years on the Albuquerque police force.

A public service for friends and fellow officers will be held Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Academy Police Chapel.

Private services for the family will be held the following day.
