Motorcycle crash kills rider

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A motorcycle rider died after crashing his bike over a speed bump in an Southwest Albuquerque neighborhood Friday afternoon.

Police said Matthew Babecka, 27, lost control of his bike after hitting a speed bump on 57th street near El Rito around 4:30 p.m.

Investigators said Babecka was not wearing a helmet, but he had one strapped to his motorcycle.

Babecka was transported to University of New Mexico Hospital with serious head injuries, where he later died.

Investigators are still looking into whether speed or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
