Cars collide head-on in Valencia Co.

LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) Valencia County Investigators said driver inattention appears to be the cause of a fatal head-on collision between a pickup truck and an SUV packed with people.

The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. Sunday on Meadowlake Road near the Manzano Expressway outside Los Lunas.

The 50-year-old woman driving the pickup was killed.

A family of five was inside the SUV. Two of them were airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital, while two others were transported by ambulance.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

It's still unclear exactly who was at fault.
