JEMEZ PUEBLO, N.M. (KRQE) - Windstream Communications customers in the Jemez Valley are experiencing a phone outage.

The phone outage affects residents from San Ysidro to the La Cueva area.

The company says that two power supplies on Pajarito Peak failed causing anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 customers to lose phone service including 911 service.

If residents in that area need to contact emergency crews and cannot use 911 from their phone or cell phone they are being advised by the Sandoval county emergency manager to go to the following locations:

  • La Cueva/North Jemez Springs - La Cueva main fire station
  • Jemez Pueblo/South Jemez Springs - Jemez Pueblo EMS
  • Canon/Ponderosa/San Ysidro - San Ysidro Marshall's office

Crew will be at the above three locations to assist residents.

The outage could be extensive; crews are planning on working overnight to fix the phone outage.
