Child car seat safety tips

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Did you know three out of four car seats are used incorrectly?

Safety expert Mark McCracken from SAFER New Mexico Now shares tips on how to keep your children safe.

• Check the size of the car seat and make sure it is appropriate for your child
• The seat shouldn't move side to side and forward and back more than an inch
• The car seat expert looks at how the vehicle's seat belt was routed through the car seat.
• Test to make sure your car seat isn’t loose. It needs to be snug.
• Checks to see if the car seat has expired, all car seats come with an expiration date.
