ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center on Tuesday announced it's canceling its drive-thru flu shot clinic on Saturday, citing higher than expected demand.
The clinic, the second of two planned drive-thru clinics to administer seasonal flu vaccines, was originally scheduled for Saturday outside the Family Practice Center on 2400 Tucker Ave. NE.
In a news release Tuesday, UNM said the first clinic, on Saturday, Oct. 17, saw nearly 4,000 patients, nearly doubling the number of shots given during a drive-thru clinic last year.
UNM still has walk-in clinics scheduled on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at its Northeast Heights Clinic at 7801 Academy Blvd. NE and its Southeast Heights Clinic at 8200 Central Ave. SE.
The vaccines that had been allocated to the drive-thru clinic will be given at the walk-in clinics, UNM said.
Various other clinics are planned on Saturdays through Nov. 21.
