Make-A-Wish sends boy to
Disney World

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Mikey Mikus Kauffman taking a break from his battle against leukemia experienced his first airplane ride today en route to Disney World and the trip of his young life courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Mikey was diagnosed with acute leukemia last year and has been undergoing chemotherapy every month.

He and his family left for Disney World from the Albuquerque Sunport Tuesday morning.

The trip will give him a chance to just be a child, his mother Carolyn Mikus said.

And since he'd never flown before, the plane ride alone is exciting. Mikey attends Montoya Elementary School in the East Mountains.
