Bernalillo Co. offers free Rx discounts

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo County residents will soon be able to get a free discount card for prescription drugs.

The program, sponsored by the National Association of Counties, will be available to all county residents regardless of income or health coverage.

The cards, provided by Caremark, will be accepted at Walgreens, CVS/pharmacy and Rite Aid locations.

The National Association of Counties said card users save an average of about 22 percent on prescriptions.

The program is at no cost to taxpayers.

Similar programs are offered in Colfax, Doña Ana, Grant, McKinley, Mora, Rio Arriba, Roosevelt, San Juan, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Sierra and Taos counties, according to the association.

Southwestern Colorado counties participating in the program include Archuleta, Conejos, La Plata, Mineral and San Miguel counties.
