ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Two children have died from the flu in New Mexico, bringing the overall number of flu-linked fatalities this season to 89.

This compares to just one flu-related pediatric death last season.

Eleven of those were confirmed to have started as influenza.

The New Mexico Department of Health reports widespread flu activity throughout the state over the last six weeks.

Health officials say it is not too late to protect your family with the flu vaccine.
