ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Gov. Susana Martinez traveled to Grants and Gallup Tuesday to hand out books to first graders and sign an agreement with the Navajo Nation.
Martinez said the aim of the memorandum of understanding between the Public Education Department and the Navajo Nation is to improve education results for Navajo students.
On Monday the governor marked the opening of the school year in Albuquerque and Belen by distributing books and reading to students in those cities.
