Gang of vandals arrested

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - One 18-year-old. Four 19-year-olds. And a 20-year-old.

It's the group of suspects Danieal Lovato will never forget.

"Me and my wife were sleeping," says Lovato, "I heard my wife get up because they heard some commotion and my son said they're breaking the windows outside."

Early Saturday morning, the group wreaked havoc on two of Lovato's cars parked in front of his house.

"They were jumping on it, throwing bricks through to the windshields, the neighbor's landscape through the windshield and they just had no regard for the law whatsoever. Just disobeying everything their parents probably taught them," Lovato says.

He added that the suspect took off shortly after his mother, who lives next door, called police.

Six adults and three juveniles were arrested after a trespassing call to a nearby home.

On Sunday, many of them appeared for the first time before a judge.

Judge Daniel Ramczyk agreed to release 18-year-old Tiffany Gurule to her parents, who also showed up in court.

To the parents of Gurule, Judge Ramczyk said, "can you be like really strict with her?"

Each of the suspects faces a charge of "criminal damage to property".

One had already bonded out of jail. Another was released on her own recognizance. For all of them Judge Ramczyk had a warning.

"As I've been stressing to everyone, you all are to have no contact with each other. Do you understand that?"

Daniel Lovato hopes he never sees them again, either.

"I hope one night of stupidity was worth it because there were other ways to handle a problem than something like this," said Lovato.
