ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Several Albuquerque firefighters who helped save a woman from her burning home were recognized for their good work Friday.
Firefighters Ruben Gonzales, Robert Candelaria, Jarred Baldwin, Alex Montero, John Hagan, Christopher Davidson, Richard Lovato, and David Mowery helped save an 88-year-old woman when her house on Solano Avenue SE caught fire in October .
"When there is a structure fire like that, and you know someone is in the home and can't get out, that's a tall order," Mayor Richard J. Berry said during the weekly Friday's Hero event. "I want to thank these gentlemen for doing their job and doing it well and saving lives."
The Albuquerque Fire Department said it was a tough rescue.
AFD investigators believe a wood-burning stove may have started the fire.
