CHILILI, N.M. (KRQE) - Bernalillo County Sheriff's Deputies said they had no choice but to shoot and kill a bear causing problems at a home Sunday morning in Chilili.
The homeowner called 911 in a panic.
"I said this bear wants to come inside," Mela Sanchez said.
Sanchez said she's been seeing bears her property since Wednesday, but never before in the 18 years she's lived in the remote forest.
Sunday's brown bear was shot by sheriff's deputies who responded to her 911 call after the animal tried to break into her home through the back porch.
Sanchez said the bear tired to jump in through the window.
She said the recent bear activity has her fearing for her life. "Really I'm scared, I am scared now," she said.
