Poison to be used to reduce prairie dogs In Clovis

CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) - Poison will be used to get rid of what some call a pesky prairie dogs problem in Clovis.
The Portales News-Tribune reports Clovis city commissioners approved an emergency budget transfer to purchase 250 containers of the rodenticide.
It will be used at Ned Houk Park where nearby landowners have been complaining about the burrowing rodents destroying the park.
Some residents are complaining that the prairie dogs eat their crops, while others worry that the poison could have long-term effects on the park itself.
