ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Summer monsoons are once again crawling across the state and the storms hit the metro area Saturday.
The storm shut down an art festival and sent visitors running for cover.
Rain scattered across Albuquerque for hours.
Saturday afternoon, it came down pretty heavily and cut an art festival short.
“Pretty much ruined everything…first it knocked all my displays down and then after that it ruined all pretty little earring cards,” Jessica Degruyter said. “Luckily though, my jewelry is waterproof.”
That was one of the vendors who had to shut down operations at the arts festival at San Mateo and Lomas.
Rain started coming down on the east side of town around 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon. That's when all of the people at the packed event scrambled to avoid the rain.
Down in Nob Hill, people were excited to see the rain.
People said it's been a nice change from the heat.
“C’mon we have four or five fires here in this state, we need it,” Ben Vigil said. “We need all the moisture we can get and we have a garden so I want all my plants to grow well”
The majority of the metro area saw rain Saturday.
