LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Interstate 25 is open again northbound from Wagon Mound although ice and blowing snow remain concerns and have closed other highways in the area.

I-25 lanes were closed twice Tuesday afternoon as separate accidents left jackknifed tractor-trailer rigs on the road, one of them leaking diesel fuel.

Late Tuesday the New Mexico Department of Transportation updated conditions in its District 4 along the I-25 corridor:

  • Interstate 25 from mile marker 330 (Bernal on Glorieta Pass) through Las Vegas to Springer (mile marker 412: Icy in spots, heavy wind gusts. Poor Visibility due to blowing snow.
  • Interstate 25 from mile marker 435 (rest area north of Maxwell) to mile marker 460 (Raton Pass): Snow packed and icy. Crews are out plowing, salting and sanding. Please use extreme caution and reduce your speed in this area.
  • NM 21 from Springer to Cimarron: Closed.
  • NM 104 from mile marker 0 to mile marker 46: 70 percent clear, still drifting; crews sanding & salting.
  • NM 518 Storrie Lake to Holman Hill north of Las Vegas: Poor visibility due to blowing snow Please use extra caution. Reduce speed.
