Gila Forest waives fees for Trails Day

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) - The Gila National Forest will be waiving recreations fees at four popular sites this weekend and offering a free night of camping in recognition of National Trails Day.

On Friday and Saturday recreation fees will be waived at:

• Lake Roberts: Mesa and Upper End Campgrounds
• Quemado Lake: Piñon and Juniper Campgrounds
• Snow Lake: Dipping Vat Campground
• Catwalk Recreation Area

Also overnight camping will be free Saturday night at the five campgrounds, according to a news release. Additional information is available from the office of the forest supervisor in Silver City at (575) 388-8201.
