Timberon blaze extinguished

TIMBERON, N.M. (KRQE) - The Timberon Fire is now completely extinguished. The blaze, which burned in southeastern New Mexico, scorched 140 acres.

At the peak of the fire, almost 130 firefighters were battling the fire, but they're being released now.

Some firefighters will remain in the area to monitor hot sports.

Since the blaze ignited on Wednesday, the Timberon Fire destroyed three homes, five outbuildings and 10 vehicles. One other home was damaged.

Evacuees from 20 other homes were allowed to return home Friday.

Investigators still haven't said what started the fire.
