SANTA FE (KRQE) - The search continues for a hunter who disappeared six weeks ago in the Pecos Wilderness of northern New Mexico.

On Sept. 6 Mel Nadel, 61, told his two friends he was leaving their campsite and would be back by nightfall. He never returned.

"Very frustrating because it's at the point where you just have to keep going, going, and going," daughter Kristen Nadel told KRQE News 13 on Friday.

Friends, family, and volunteers have been searching the wilderness area for weeks and will return to the mountainous area north of Pecos on Sunday. New Mexico State Police are reporting no leads in the case.

Edna Nadel said she believes her husband was a victim of foul play.

"He's is the kind of guy, not one who's going to take off and disappear," she said. "Something happened."

Edna and Kristen Nadel hope they can find some sort of closure. They are encouraging anyone who may know Mel's whereabouts to contact authorities.
