RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - The young father killed by a bolt of lightning ahead of Rio Rancho's Fourth of July fireworks show was an Army veteran and a New Mexico National Guardsman.

Jarrod Truesdale, 26, was waiting out a storm at Loma Colorado Park with his wife, four kids and sister-in-law when the bolt hit.

He died at the hospital. His wife is still in serious condition.

The others are OK.
