ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Flooding fears from the spring runoff have prompted the release of water from El Vado Lake.
However, that release has led to flooding concerns along the Rio Chama River.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation reports the river has topped its banks in some parts, but the release was necessary to avoid severe flooding at El Vado Lake.
So far, the bureau is aware of reports of damage to one road.
The owner of the Gallina Canyon Ranch reports significant damage.
A bureau spokesperson said they are monitoring the release from the air and the ground. The release will continue to through the weekend.
