ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Widespread and heavy rains left behind hail, a blocked highway and at least one flooded home Wednesday with downpours continuing into the night.

The Albuquerque metro area was under a flood advisory as storms flooded roads and left hail in Los Lunas and other areas. In Socorro one home had part of its ceiling cave in during a deluge and then flooded when rising water breached a nearby conservancy ditch.

In Otero County runoff from the high country east of Alamogordo closed U.S. Highway 82 which remained closed after the water subsided until debris could be cleared.

The flood advisory for Albuquerque was to expire shortly after 10 p.m. However another advisory then was issued extending until after midnight for far-northern Socorro County and much of Valencia County.

That and other pockets of heavy rain continued to move northward and northeastward toward Albuquerque.
