Carlsbad mine checked after earthquake

CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A potash mine near Carlsbad is being checked for safety following a 2.9 magnitude earthquake Sunday.
Potash miners working underground on the graveyard shift said they felt the earth move at the area's two mines.
No injuries were reported at the Mosaic Potash mine.
However, human resources manager Tonk Chester tells The Carlsbad Current-Argus that for safety reasons some areas of the underground mining operation are closed for inspection.
Intrepid Potash spokesman William Kent says the earthquake had no impact on the mining operation there.
The U.S. Geological Survey says Sunday's earthquake occurred just before 5 a.m. with the epicenter about 14 miles east of Loving and 38 miles east-southeast of Carlsbad.
